Allison Brink, a Michigan-based expert on agronomy, animal agriculture and environmental stewardship has been chosen to lead Michigan Allied Poultry Industries Inc. (MAPI) as its new executive director.
“Poultry is a rapidly-changing sector of the agricultural economy, bringing multiple new challenges and opportunities every year, and Allison Brink brings the expertise we need to provide sound advice and advocate for poultry farmers across the state,” said Jeff Smith, MAPI board president. “Allison’s deep experience and roots in Michigan agriculture position her well to be a strong advocate for Michigan’s poultry industry in Lansing and across the state.”
“Having dedicated my career to Michigan agriculture, I know that Michigan has a strong poultry industry with a great story to tell, and I look forward to getting to work,” said Brink. “Through partnership and collaboration, Michigan’s poultry farmers must continue educating the public, sharing forward-looking best practices and positioning our industry for the future.
”A native of Caledonia, Brink has more than 15 years of experience in Michigan agriculture. After receiving a degree from Michigan State University in Crop and Soil Sciences, she served as a sales agronomist with Caledonia Farmers Elevator for several years before launching an independent consulting practice in 2005.
Brink is the chair of the Michigan Certified Crop Advisor Program and an NRCS Technical Service Provider, and has focused her consulting practice on environmental stewardship on livestock operations – including developing manure management systems plans, assisting with certification under the Michigan Agriculture Environmental Assurance Program, and helping farmers comply with requirements under state and federal law.SOURCE: Watt Ag Net
